4 Years Vegas Style

JR and I had the pleasure of celebrating 4 wonderful years of marriage a couple weeks ago. Can you believe it's been that long? Every year we have gone somewhere for our anniversary and we almost decided to stay home this year but what's the fun in that? Instead, we partied in Vegas! In our case, what happens in Vegas does not need to stay in Vegas. We share!
We didn't actually go to Vegas until the week after our anniversary. On our anniversary we pretty much only had time for dinner since JR was in the middle of midterms. We went to Bucca Di Beppo and had ourselves a nice dinner.

And a not so nice dessert.  I've always been curious about Cannoli's but unfortunately they were not good.  At least not here. Are they normally good?

When we asked our server to take a picture for us this is what we got:

Not exactly what we were looking for but hey, that's cool!  We warned him we were going to put him on the internet and sure enough, there he is.

As far as Vegas goes, it was a very fast and furious trip.  We drove up on a Wednesday and back on Friday.  I feel like we pretty much ran from place to place and I thought our feet were going to fall off.  I felt like such an old woman each morning when my hips hurt from walking all day.  Haha!  We stayed at Treasure Island which was pretty nice. No complaints there. 

We had a list of a bunch of free things to do in Vegas (cause that's the way we roll) so we were scrambling to get them all in.  We started with going to see a Circus Show at Circus Circus.  That was pretty short and sweet.  I didn't realize they only did about a 5 minute show every half an hour. We saw a couple skate on about a 5 foot in diameter circle.  Oooh, ahhhh...

We tried to get some tickets to free shows after that but to no avail so we walked the strip instead. We walked around the Paris hotel which was one of my favorites, I love the way they recreated the Streets of Paris inside.

Next we hit up our groupon for Pink's hotdogs which made JR sick. JR never, I mean never, throws food away but when he threw away about half of his hot dog burrito I knew he was not pleased. Yes, I said hot dog burrito.

We just walked and walked and kept walking.  There sure is a lot to see in Vegas. 

We got to the MGM grand where we heard we could see us some Lions but were informed there were no Lions to be seen this time of year.  Sure wish we hadn't walked 2.5 miles to get there.  Oh well.  So we headed to the Bellagio which we knew was sure to please.  Oh how I love you Bellagio dancing waters.  You are so pretty pretty.

Then we had to rush back to our hotel to see the Sirens of Treasure Island show on the strip.  Not such a great script on that one.  But, enteratining and free none the less. 
Thursday we slept in and headed over to Serendipity.  It was not a disappointment in New York and it was not a disappointment in Vegas. 2 thumbs up for that place.  We did in fact have this little beauty for breakfast:

For those of you who have never tried a Frozen Hot Chocolate. I'm sorry.  We did have real breakfast after our dessert for those of you who may be worried about our nutrition habits.

We then headed over to the Las Vegas temple for a little time away from the "world" in just about every sense of the word. 

Next we spent quite some time at the Venetian where we went on a Gondola Ride

We had a women Gondolier.  Never seen that before.  She was good though, sang to us and everything!

We saw the Painted ceilings in the lobby which were pretty cool:

We had the best burger of our life at I (heart) Burgers and finished off with seeing The Phantom of the Opera Las  Vegas Spectacular.  We were both pretty impressed with all the crazy effects they were able to pull off on stage.  They had all sorts of things popping out of the ground and falling from the ceiling and what not. 

Then we headed of to the Bellagop where we saw the wold's tallest Chocolate fountain:

Then back to Serenditpity for round 2.  I'm not kidding. Go there.  Now!  And take me with you.

And finally, we drove to the Las Vegas sign for a photo op. 

JR wants me to point out that in this next picture he is making fun of plankers and is not being an actual planker:

Funny story, when we were driving to the Sign around midnight we were stopped at a stop light and some random guy walks towards our car and tries to get in.  I'm pretty sure he was drunk and thought we were a Taxi but I was real scared as I saw him trying to open our door and get in. Glad he didn't hijack our car.

On Friday we had some Gelato for breakfast:

Enjoyed more time at the Venetian, walked around Caeasar Palace and more walking the strip

We ended our stay with a lunch buffet. How appropriate right?  On our way home we stopped in Kingman and got to see JR's sisters family and my friend Ellie.  So good to see all of them!

It was a really fun trip and I'm so grateful JR and I got to get away for awhile and have a nice relaxing eventful 3 days.
