McDonald's is all sorts of messed up

I don't know if many of you know this but JR loves McDonald's. He does, he really does. That's beside the point. While on our anniversary trip (and yes I know that was forever ago but I'd been meaning to share this little funny story for awhile and just forgot) we needed some ice to put in our cooler and decided that McDonald's was the place for that since they have pretty cheap ice. So we drive around until we see a McDonald's and pull into the drive through. We ask the guy on the other end of the speaker for some ice. He claimed that McDonald's does not sell ice. We asked him if he was sure to which he decided to get a second opinion I guess cause he took a while to respond. He finally came back on and said "that'll be $2.69 please pull through" So we pull up to the window and are sitting there for awhile wondering why grabbing bags of ice is taking so long. The guy finally comes to the window and hands us these:

Did this guy really just go in the back and fill up to go bags with ice? Yep, he sure did. I still wonder if he just pocketed that $2.69 thinking he was so clever. Kinda ghetto but it worked for our purposes so I guess we can't complain. I just thought it was so funny. Maybe that guy should get employee of the year for being innovative. I'll probably call McDonald's later and nominate him....

Things are happening to fast

This week I had a phone interview with a manager at a University of Phoenix campus in Fresno. I've been an enrollment counselor with UOP for 4 1/2 years now and unfortunately there are not openings in enrollment so I put my resume in for a corporate liaison position. Basically corporate liaisons spend their time calling mostly businesses trying to get in to give presentations to their employees in order to generate leads to send to enrollment counselors. This would be a bit different than what I'm used to. I'm definitely not used to working with students face to face much less getting together with them in a group and having to present things to them. The manager said I would be traveling within about a 30-40 mile radius and would even have to do some meetings in Sacramento or Phoenix at times. That would be cool to come home to Phoenix on UOP's bill.
Anyways, the interview went well and for the past 2 days I've been trying to answer these interview questions that were sent out to me. I forgot how much I don't like talking about myself and trying to sell my greatness.
I'm really not sure how to feel about this job because if I were to get it they would want me starting mid May. Can anyone comprehend what that means? That means I'd have to pack up my house and my life in like 2 weeks and move to a place I've never even been to and try to find a new place to live. What I do know is that I'm not mentally prepared to move yet. All this time I've had it in my mind that we would move end of July and I'd have plenty of time to wean myself from family and friends. The thought of May really overwhelms me. I'll take the job though if it's offered to me and make it work. Yikes!

My life is a horror film and I'm the star

Total creepy right? Ok so when it comes right down to it my life is actually pretty great and not full of horror, although it was not fun being diagnosed with pink eye last week. It was awful. I don't know if I've ever experienced pink eye for myself and if I did I was to young to remember. Not sure where I picked this beauty up but it was quite the irritation for about 3 days. Day number 1 was by far the worst with goopy's. My favorite was when I went to a movie with people during work and they made me sit a seat down from them by myself. Guess I can't blame them. Day 2 was better, more creepy than goopy. That's when I waited 2 hours for the Dr. to come in and say, yep, pink eye, and give a me prescription. Day 3 was Sunday and I felt silly cause I didn't look like I had pink eye anymore but I got a sub for my Primary class just in case. I looked like a big slacker showing up at church but having a sub for my class. I have to say though, it was pretty nice going to Sunday school and Relief Society. Anyways, pink eye seems to be all gone and I'm no longer a reject in the community!

Easter

Easter this year was just plain good. The Easter Bunny came to our house and we were able to have a nice morning together and church was fabulous as ever. JR sent me on a scavenger hunt for my basket. He was so creative. He made up slips or paper with clues on them and even took the time to make them rhyme! It was very cute.
We headed over to my sister Lyndee's house in the evening to spend time with some family. I have to say that kids really add a special dynamic to every holiday. JR and I were nominated as the designated Easter egg hiders so we hid about a million eggs with a couple of my older nephews and then got to watch as the little ones went a huntin! My siblings started this thing where 3 of the eggs are golden and in then are money so we had to hide those ones extra hard. I think maybe we did to good a job since I had to tell one of the kids where it was hidden after about 45 minutes of searching for that last egg. It's so good to be so close to family. We won't have that much longer so we really need to get in all the time we can now!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

You'll have to bear with me a little bit, as this is my first time posting on our blog. Jenny has been trying to get me to take a little more of an active role in our blog but I wasn't having it...until today! While I may not have the literary finesse that my wife seems to have in all of her posts, I'll do my best to represent her well! :)



We do have a big announcement, people! First of all, before your minds run off in a direction it's not supposed to, I want to clarify one thing right now: we are not pregnant (we seem to get that question alot when sharing exciting news). Anyways, you've read many entries about graduate school and our potential to go...well, just about anywhere. Over the last 2 years, I've looked through and re-evaluated approximately 86 graduate programs all over the world (that number surprised me too when my curiosity got me to sit down and figure it out). We had many options spanning western, mid-western, and eastern US; there were quite a few in Canada and western Europe; and, outside of the US, Australia had the most of all foreign countries, holding strong with about 10 programs. I exhausted MANY hours looking through curriculae, post-graduate job placement, professor research interests, internship availability, and speaking with program coordinators. And here we are at the end of such a tedious and seemingly endless journey. So, without further adieu...WE'RE GOING TO FRESNO! We got word of my acceptance yesterday and we were very excited! As you've heard about before, the school is California State University in Fresno. Some of you may recognize them as last year's champions, and cinderella story, in NCAA Division 1 baseball, defeating Georgia in game 3 of the series 6-1. In light of this, we will be making the big move to Fresno in either late July or very early August, since the semester starts in the last week of August. It's going to be a busy time for us. I really hope I can get back into the school routine, especially since I graduated from ASU almost a year and a half ago. Yikes! Time really flies.
