Still kickin

Remember when I used to be good at blogging?  I remember that.  We may never know what happened friends but, here is an update on the Payne family in no particular order.

JR was as sweet as ever when mothers day came around and spent half the night making his own version of an edible arrangement for me.  What man does this? Mine does...and he's awesome.
He even cut pineapple stars and heart shaped watermelon.  I couldn't have been more impressed.  So cute!

We took a trip back to Fresno while JR was in between school session.  As ghetto as Fresno is, we sure do miss it.  We made such good friends there and it was our first little adventure together as a married couple.  We experienced a lot of new things there.  We will always have a bond with Fresno .  We were lucky to be there during our old wards Tri Tip dinner fundraiser for the young men so not only was it a great way to see everyone, but we got to eat delicious tri tip. We miss tri tip. Why does California seem to be the only place obsessed with it?  I got to go bowling and to dinner with some girls in the ward one night while JR hung out with some of his old school friends.  We also got to see some of mine and JR's old co-workers.  One day we drove to Hanford to get some ice cream from the dairy down there.  It was a short trip but it was so nice to get away and reminisce.  I took a total of two, yes, two pictures while we were there and surprise surprise, they were of food.  Pathetic?  I think so.  FYI, not only am I not good at blogging anymore but I'm not good at picture taking any more either.  How lazy have I gotten?
Trip Tip Sandwiches at the Dog House Grill.  A little treasure we didn't discover until a couple months before we moved:

We polished that ice cream off by the way.

JR is now doing summer school.  He got a TA position at ASU that he will start in the fall.  It's going to keep him super busy but he'll get tuition paid for plus a stipend and health benefits.  Such a blessing.  He'll be teaching six, 7 week classes and between the classes he'll be teaching and the classes he'll be taking he'll be commuting between 3 different ASU campus'.  We just found out today that he got the internship at the site he wanted!  He only looked and interviewed at that one location and apparently he nailed it!  Sunday is JR's birthday.  One year closer to 30!  I think he's taking getting older worse than me!
As for me, I've just been working. I get a new schedule starting Monday that I'm pretty excited about.  I'll be working four, 10 hour shifts and I'll actually get two days off in a row plus Friday night!  I still have to work on Saturdays but, eh, what can you do?  I'll still be working nights too but couldn't give up the shift differential, nor the sleep.
I was called to the camp committee in my ward, so I got to go to girls camp with the young women last week which was so much fun.  I only got to go for two days because I had to work but I loved it so much. I miss working with the young women. They so take me back to high school and I feel more like one of them than a leader. Maybe that's not a good thing. haha!  The girls in my ward are such good girls too.  I loved them!  We did ward camp as opposed to stake camp which I had never experienced before.  I think it turned out really well.  We had about 15 girls and our camp site was really nice.  We slept in tents but still had toilets with running water and showers (which the girls were quite pleased with).  Now that camp is over I guess that means I don't have a calling any more and will be forgotten by all of the young women.  Tear.
Well, I think that about catches you up...to the best of my memory anyways.
