Memorial day weekend was a such a great weekend for me. I'm not sure if JR enjoyed it quite as much as I did since he had to work Saturday and Monday but I sure did enjoy having a relaxing not to busy but busy enough to not get bored weekend. We got to play with friends, I got to hang out with my sister and nieces and nephews, go shopping, relax by the pool (which by the way I never seem to be able to do) and just when I would usually have to go back to work I got another day off! Oh how I wish every weekend were a 3 day one! Monday after JR got home from work we decided we'd go and do something a little different. We didn't know what but we did know we didn't want to spend another night in front of the TV. JR came up with the idea of going to Game Works. We decided we'd only spend 10 dollars there and then walk away. It ended up being pretty dang fun. We were able to play maybe about 5 games each. We then ate at the food court at AZ Mills and just walked around till the mall closed. I love simple times like that when I can just hang out with my hubby and get out for even a little bit. And for the record video games at home will never exist. They sure can be fun though!

Under Estimated

What is under estimated you ask? Drive in Movies that is what! The other night we had a double date and our friends suggested we go to the drive in movie. It's different, it's MUCH cheaper than a regular movie theater, you get to watch 2 movies and you get to bring your own treats! I mean really, can you get better than that in the movie department? We did have some seating issues that could have been resolved by brining camping chairs or something but alas we did not and so we were a bit strained in the car trying to see the screen from the back seat but it worked! For those who are looking for a good date may I suggest the drive in movie. The one in Scottsdale has family fun night for $4.25 for adults every Tuesday. We got to see Star Trek and Monsters vs. Aliens (funny movie, Lindsay we saw Chris' name in the credit's and it was fun to know a famous person, ha!). Just rememebr if you are going in a group to bring chairs along. Thanks Carpenters for another memorable evening!

Say hello to Mandi

Well, we did it. We got a new car, well not quite new but certified pre-owned with only 13,500 miles on it, that's new to us! You might say "we got sold" but that would show some weakness on our part so instead I'll say we got a great deal. Which I do believe that we did but when we went into the car dealership on Saturday night neither of us were expecting to drive home with a new car. In fact, JR was dead set against it. We showed up at about 7:30 pm, they closed at 8 and kept us there striking "deals" until about 11 when we finally couldn't resist any longer. They offered us pretty much everything we were wanting so even though we were both really scared to take on a new car and were both very sad to say goodbye to my truck we figured we for sure were going to be getting a new car eventually so why not just take it home that night? The kicker? We decided to go a little more economical than the before mentioned Equinox that we were looking at. We had started talking about getting a sedan about a week ago and started looking at Altima's and other Nissan's. We then read some really great things about the new Chevy Malibu's. When I think of Malibu's I think of nothing exciting. When we saw the new models though I was really impressed. They are super classy looking. We know because my family told us so when we showed them the car last night. So anyways without further delay may I introduce you to Mandi:


I still can't believe we have a new car. I actually cried driving away from the dealership because I was sad to leave my truck. I guess I didn't realize just how attached to it I was. Some really good memories happened in that car. It's where JR and I first said I love you and where we got engaged. Plus I just really liked it. Now I'm just a boring sedan owner! Just kidding. Mandi is not boring. Anyways, just wanted to share our exciting news.

Bored?

Back in the day of roommates we came up with a really great activity when we were bored one night. Here's the materials you'll need: A picture of yourself, magazine, scissors, glue. The rest is simple. Cut your head out and paste onto models bodies. This makes for some pretty funny times. I came across these on my phone today. Quality is not so good but you get the idea. I'm not sure why they uploaded in such a cadywompus manner either.

Decisions

JR and I have been discussing getting rid of our truck and upgrading to more of an SUV type vehicle. My truck is named Steve and has he has been such a good little truck to me that it'll be sad to say good bye but I think it'll be good to have a more practical car for the future.
Here we have Steve and JR on one of our vacations. Aren't they so cute? Steve drove us all the way to San Diego and was a great sport!

We've looked around at some different cars but the one we like the most is a newer model; the Chevy Equinox. JR has already been to test drive a couple and was very impressed.

Nice huh? Now we just have to decide if we really want to take the plunge or not. They are willing to give us almost what we owe on it which was a nice surprise. So do we upgrade or not? This is our dilema...

Science is cool

Last Friday we went on a double date with our friends Ryan and Sunny to the Arizona Science Center. For those of you looking for a cheap, fun date I would recommend it. Every first Friday of the month you get free admission into the Science Center. You won't get to go to any of the special features or the IMAX but we kept ourselves entertained just fine without those. I wasn't sure what to expect and thought it might end up being kind of boring but it was actually a lot of fun. They have interactive exhibits set up where you get to go and play with a lot of the stuff. My favorite was probably the Digital exhibit. You get to learn about all sorts of things in a fun way. And there is my plug for the Arizona Science Center. Call me a nerd now...whatever!


Below is a picture of what mine and JR's child will look like. This was an exhibit about how passed on gene's can give different characterisitcs to future generations. The outcome was not very pretty though. Our poor children!

Next we've got wheelchair races. Despite that very determine look on my face JR still beat me. Guess he was a little more determined.

I think I could have played with these next couple exhibits all night. So hilarious! Some times I want to buy a MAC computer just so I could do stuff like this.

Oh and we went and saw Wolverine afterwards...very good. Also recommended. Ghost of Girlfriends Past...not so much.
